I used to loathe working out. While I still don’t love it, I’ve made going to the gym a part of my routine and it’s getting better. I want to love it, really I do, but I don’t. I always feel so good after completing a workout, but getting me there can take serious motivation. One of my goals for 2016 is to be healthier and work out more. I’ve been sticking with it better than ever and really hope exercise can be something I grow to love this year. Today I thought I would share with you guys how I motivate myself to work out.
Make a killer playlist. Music definitely keeps me motivated, especially when it comes to cardio. Upbeat songs can make me look forward to a workout and definitely makes the time pass by much quicker.
Workout first thing in the morning. While it
can does suck when you want to hit the snooze button, getting a workout in first thing gives me more energy for the day and it’s less likely that something will come up preventing me from getting one in later in the day.
Get some cute workout gear. Having something cute to wear can make working out more fun, in my opinion. I find myself actually excited to go to the gym, even if it’s just so I can wear my new gear. Mix it up. I get bored of doing the same thing every day, so I like to try and mix up what I’m doing. Some days I’ll go for a long walk, others I’ll focus on strength training. Variety is key to keeping exercise fun.
Remind yourself of your goals. Whether you want to lose weight, are training for a marathon, or just want to be healthier, reminding yourself of this is sure to be the biggest motivator.
