My Latest Foundation Obsession

I remember the Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + as my first high end foundation. I bought it without considering my dry skin type at the time because it made my sister’s skin look so flawless. It didn’t work for me and I was so disappointed. Fast forward a couple years to the launch of the Ultra HD Foundation, which I loved! Never had I found a shade so perfect for me and it made my skin look amazing. And now, with the launch of their Matte Velvet Skin High Coverage Foundation*, I have a new favourite foundation again!

The Packaging

The packing is nothing special in my opinion. It comes in a tube as many foundations do, however I like the black design and the fact that you can see the foundation shade through the tube!

The Shades

Make Up For Ever always does a really good shade range, and this foundation is no exception. There are 40 to choose from, so the chances of you finding your perfect match are pretty high! I often struggle to find foundation shades light enough for me during the fall and winter months, but not with Make Up For Ever.

The Formula

This creamy foundation is easy to blend and gives full coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. It does give the skin a beautiful matte finish, but it isn’t too intense for me. My skin is currently combination-dry so it will be interesting to see how I like this one come winter time, but for now I’m loving the soft focus finish on my skin and find that it never looks caked on nor does it cling to any dry patches I have or flake. It lasts on the skin up to 24 hours, so you don’t have to worry about this one fading throughout the day either!

Whether you loved Mat Velvet + and want a lighter option or didn’t find it worked for you, I can’t recommend the Matte Velvet Skin Foundation enough! It has the coverage you want while looking so natural on the skin. I think all skin types will enjoy this new launch!
