Fall is without a doubt my favourite season for many reasons. I love everything about it from the cool temperatures, to the changing leaves, and the holidays that come along with it. I find fall is usually blur though and I’m decorating the house for Christmas in the blink of an eye!
I really want to savour the fall season this year and make the most of it. That’s why I’ve decided to make a fall bucket list to ensure I make time for all the things I want to do and really enjoy this season. While I’ve checked off a few of them before this post went live, there are still lots left to do!
Here is what’s on my fall bucket list:
Spend more time with family
This is a big one for me and it’s why I had my sister Sam take photos with me! Now that I’m settled in my apartment I feel like I have more time to see them. I’m really close with my family and love spending time with them.
Go to Pumpkin Inferno
A little outside of town, there is Pumpkin Inferno event that I have been dying to go to for the past couple years! I finally got to go with Cole, my mom, and Sam this past weekend and despite the rain, we had a great time! There were over 7,000 carved pumpkins and it was such a fun way to spend a Saturday night!
Go Apple Picking
This is something I have already gotten to do too! Cole and I went a week or so ago now and had a really nice time. The weather was perfect and we got tons of delicious apples! I even made an apple crisp to take to my parents’ for Thanksgiving!
This year I was lucky enough to have three Thanksgiving dinners to go to! We went to Cole’s mom’s on Friday night, my parents’ house last night, and we’re going to his grandmother’s later today. I love Thanksgiving! Spending time with family and eating delicious food are two of my favourite things.
Carving pumpkins was one of my favourite Halloween traditions as a kid. I think it would be fun to carve a couple this year! While we’re in an apartment and no one will really see them, it would be a fun way to spend a night in.
Light Fall Candles
I have been lighting fall candles since the first of September to be honest and I’m going to continue to do so until I switch over to Christmas scented ones. Fall candles make the apartment super cozy and smell amazing at the same time. Two of my favourites have been Bath & Body Works “Autumn Woods” and “Flannel”.
Read Three Books
I love reading but it’s something I don’t tend to make enough time for. When fall rolls around though, I’m in the mood more often to curl up on the couch with a good book. I’m especially addicted to thrillers lately. I just finished “Then She Was Gone” and have started on “All the Missing Girls” which has me hooked!
Decorate the Apartment
I love decorating for fall and Halloween, and you can certainly tell if you stop by my apartment. I have fall candles everywhere, fall scented hand soaps in the kitchen and bathroom, fall themed tea towels in the kitchen, pumpkin string lights and ceramic pumpkins in the living room, as well as candy dishes filled with Halloween candy.
Watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
I watch this every year. It’s super cute no matter how old I get and October would not feel complete without watching this at least once!
Bake a Pumpkin Loaf
I’ve already done this one too, but I have enough ingredients to make another which I plan to do shortly. Not only does this pumpkin loaf taste amazing with a cup of coffee, but it leaves the entire apartment smelling like fall.
Have a Candlelit Dinner
Candlelight dinners are super romantic and a cute at-home date night idea. I haven’t told Cole about this one, so he may laugh at me for it, but I think it would be a fun way to spend an evening. You could even continue the night by watching a movie together!
Go on a Hike
I’ve never been on a hike before but it’s something I want to try. I figure fall is the perfect time of year to go on one as it’s cooler outside and the leaves are so pretty this time of year! I really hope to get one in before the end of October!
