I mentioned in my Toronto weekend recap post that we made lipsticks at the Bite Beauty Lip Lab, so for today’s post I thought it would be fun to tell you more about making lipstick at the Bite Beauty Lip Lab!
It was such a cool experience and I now have a really nice keepsake to remember the weekend.
While you don’t need to make an appointment, we opted to since we figured Saturday afternoons were probably quite busy. When we got there we got right in, so that was nice!
Inside was incredible! There were copious amounts of pigments in jars along the walls and everything was so sleek.
We immediately sat down and met Kathy who helped us design our shades. We started out by telling her what kind of shade we wanted to create. I decided I wanted a statement red that had blue undertones. We then went on to tell her what kind of finish we were looking for. I picked matte (no surprise there).
After she knew what type of shade we were looking for, Kathy started mixing! She let us try on the shade and welcomed any feedback. At first glance I thought the first shade wasn’t as deep as I was expecting but once I applied it – I was obsessed! It was just bright enough and totally complimented my skin tone! I ended up sticking with that first shade.
Once we were all decided on our shades, we got to choose a scent. I opted for classic vanilla, though there were a variety to choose from and you were even allowed to mix two together.
After that Kathy melted down the lipstick shades and poured them into molds. She then froze them to keep their shape.
Everything got packed up so nicely, complete with a little note from Kathy which was such a nice touch.
We opted to do the basic $55 package which just included one lipstick. While it’s pricey for a lipstick, I think it was absolutely worth it! The shade we created is perfect and it was so fun to help be a part of the creative process. The quality of the lipstick is incredible too. You can also do the same thing we did but get two lipsticks for $80!
It was such a fun day and I’m so happy with my lipstick! I wanted one I could save for special occasions and I got exactly that. My mom and sister opted for more neutral shades, both of which are really pretty too!
It was such a fun experience!
