Hot chocolate is one of my favourite drinks this time of year. It makes a cozy treat all throughout the year, but I especially love it around Christmastime. For today’s festive post I thought I would share with you classic hot chocolate 3 ways:
This is going to be the base for the other hot chocolates too. Simply fill a mug with warm milk. Add in 1 tbsp. cocoa powder and 1 tbsp. sugar. Mix well and top with mini marshmallows.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Start off by making a cup of classic cocoa. Instead of topping with marshmallows, stir in just a drop of peppermint extract and top with a candy cane.
Cinnamon Hot Chocolate
Start off once again by making a cup of classic cocoa. Instead of topping with marshmallows, stir in 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon. The flavour combination is decadent without being overly sweet! It’s perfect for those who are looking for something sweet, but not too over the top.
There’s really nothing better than cozying up with a mug of hot chocolate this time of year. It’s one of my favourite things about winter and I’m always looking to try new recipes out.
