January has flown by. It was a very busy month for me work-wise. 2018 is off to a far better start than 2017 for me and I want to keep the momentum going. Which is why I have come up with some daily habits for a great 2018!
I want this year to be my most productive and most enjoyable one yet. I have a lot of goals I want to crush while still keeping my mental health in mind and taking time for myself. Organization is going to be key for me, but here are some of the daily habits I want to incorporate into my routine:
Drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning
Since sleeping dehydrates the body, it’s important to re-hydrate when you wake up. This is something I’ve never been good at, but I’m trying to be better about it. There are so many benefits to drinking enough water and this is the perfect way to up my daily intake.
Make my bed every morning
This is something I’m actually really good about doing. I find it makes me feel more productive and it gives my bedroom a clean look. While it’s not my favourite thing to do in the day, it’s a definite mood booster and something I want to continue to be in the habit of.
Exercise for at least 30 minutes each day
As much as I don’t like to exercise, there’s no denying the positive effect it has on my mental health; so it’s something I want to make the time for. This can vary everyday depending on what I feel like or what I feel like my body needs. Lately I have been really enjoying walks outside when the weather permits. It’s a great way to get some fresh air (which feels so needed this time of year) and burn calories.
It’s important to dress appropriately though, which is why I like to wear my Feminist Jogger Light Gray & White Sweater Headband*. It looks super cute and it keeps my ears warm. I tend to get headaches from the cold wind, so this is perfect to combat that! It’s lightweight and super soft yet still warm. The headband is machine washable and what’s more is that Feminist Jogger donates 5% of their monthly sales to Planned Parenthood and the ACLU which is so incredible!
Prep for the next day
I always feel more prepared for the day ahead if I’ve taken some time the night before to get organized. For me this means deciding on an outfit, tidying up my bedroom, and packing my lunch for the next day. I go through phases of being organized about this but it’s something I want to be consistent about in 2018.
Reflect on the day and make a list of what I’m grateful for
I have so much to be thankful for and it can be easy to let that slip away from me when I get busy or stressed. This year I want to take a few minutes at the end of every day to reflect on it as well as make a list of a few things I’m grateful for that day. I think this will help put things into perspective on bad days and further motivate me on good ones.
