When the weather starts to change, so does my skin. It’s in a combination phase at the moment as the weather is starting to slightly cool off but is still humid at times.
Combination skin is my least favourite because I feel I have a harder time finding suitable products. I need something moisturizing enough for my dry patches but something that’s going to help control excess oil in my t-zone. You typically get one or the other when it comes to makeup and skincare so I find myself using more products than normal when my skin is more on the combination side.
That being said, I have found a few foundations that have been working really well for my combination skin to keep it looking its best all throughout the day and thought I would share them with you today for those of you with combination skin like myself.
Here are the 3 Foundations My Combination Skin is Loving Right Now:
IT Cosmetics recently launched in Canada, which is huge! I have wanted to try this CC Cream for ages as a lot of the beauty bloggers and YouTubers I follow from America and the U.K. rave about this as being one of the best foundations. IT Cosmetics is a brand that has been developed with plastic surgeons to create game-changing products. The Your Skin But Better CC Cream is one of the brand’s bestsellers, and it is easy to see why!
The packaging is cute and I love the pump. It dispenses the right amount of product and keeps the tube looking clean. The foundation comes in 7 shades and offers a medium to full coverage, which is my ideal. While the foundation offers great coverage, it feels lightweight on the skin, which is especially nice when the afternoons get hot.
The formula contains SPF 50 so I can skip applying an SPF underneath and just use one product on my skin for a lightweight feel. The formula also works as a brightening colour corrector, a pore minimizer, and a hydrating moisturizer. It’s a great multi-purpose product and I love the smooth finish it gives my skin. The foundation also makes my skin look glowy but not greasy, which I love. It holds up well throughout the day on its own but lasts even better when it is set with powder.
IT Cosmetics very kindly gave me a coupon code for my readers! If you use the code: ITGIRLHAYES on the itcosmetics.ca website, you can save 10% off your purchase now until October 31st!
The Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation has been my ultimate favourite foundation since I first tried it. Whether I’m having a bad skin day or am just looking for a flawless finish I know is going to last, this is always the foundation I reach for. It is very full coverage, but it doesn’t feel overly heavy on the skin. It gives my skin a natural looking glow and the formula is non-comedogenic so it doesn’t clog my pores. This foundation helps control excess oil and has 24 hour wear. I have yet to find another foundation that gives me a flawless finish and looks the same as when I just applied it all throughout the day.
This foundation comes in 30 shades too, so it’s easy to find the right shade. My only complaint with this foundation is that it can be a bit harder than most to remove. It really sticks to the skin, which is great and why it lasts so long on the skin, but I usually have to double cleanse to really get it all off at the end of the day. I enjoy my evening skincare routine, so that doesn’t really bother me too much, but there are definitely days when I know I’m not going to want to put in the extra effort come evening time which is when I opt for the other foundation options.
This is another very full coverage foundation, but at a more affordable price than the Estée Lauder option. It offers the highest coverage I have ever seen from a drugstore foundation without feeling heavy on the skin. The mousse texture blends well and this foundation can be used on both face and body. L’Oreal offers a great shade selection with this foundation, as always. The foundation also has 24 hour wear so it’s quite long lasting, which is an important factor for me.
