I am obsessed with thrillers. I read them non-stop and become so engulfed in the storylines. It’s weird because I’m not someone who likes anything scary, but there is something about these types of books that has me hooked! It started with Gone Girl years ago and has only picked up from there. And, since Halloween is tomorrow I thought I would share my suggestions for creepy thrillers to read this fall:
Since reading Gone Girl years ago I have also read all of Gillian Flynn’s other novels. This one is pretty creepy too! It tells the story of a woman who has to return to her hometown fresh out of her stay in a psych ward to report on the murders of two preteen girls. She finds herself back at her hypochondriac mother’s home, staying with her and her eerie half sister. It’s not long before she finds herself identifying a little too much with the murder victims and needs to unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past to help solve the mystery. HBO recently did a series on the book. I haven’t seen it yet, but definitely want to! This book does a great job of keeping you guessing until the end!
This book had me hooked from the beginning! It follows the story of a mother who loses her fifteen year old daughter. 10 years have passed and there seems to be no leads on her case. The mother begins to move on with her life and meets a charming man. Their relationship develops quickly and when she meets his daughter she can’t believe how much his daughter looks like hers. I had so many predictions when it came to this book and it took me quite a while to figure it out! It’s definitely a unique story and not at all like any of the other stories I’ve read!
This book was recommended to me by my friend Cera who is just as into these types of books as I am! This one is told in reverse, making it truly unique but just as thrilling to read. It follows Nicolette Farrell who left her hometown 10 years ago after her best friend went missing without a trace. She returns home to help out with her ailing father but as soon as she does, another girl, Annaleise goes missing. Nicolette works to find Annaleise and discovers all sorts of shocking truths about her family, friends, and her missing best friend. There are so many twists and turns in this book making it a great read!
