I talked a bit in my DIY Inspiration Board post about how I want to make more of an effort with my style this year. I feel as though I have been stuck in a rut for the past year or so, which I really want to get out of. I’ve come up with some ideas and thought it would be fun to share my 2018 style resolutions with you!
Cut Back on How Often I Wear Leggings
This one is key for me. I wear leggings nearly everyday. While this isn’t necessarily bad, I know I would look and feel more put together if I wasn’t always wearing such casual outfits. It would be be one thing if I was actually going to work out, but that’s not the case. Leggings have become such a staple for me but I really want to try and mix up my look a bit more. While I won’t give them up completely, I would like to limit how frequently I’m wearing them.
Invest in Shoes and Boots
When I first started working back in high school I was obsessed with buying shoes. I had a really fun collection which has since tapered off into basics. Since then, I still have some cute shoes/boots; but I’d like to get back into having a collection again. I tend to oscillate between 2 or 3 pairs per month out of sheer laziness but I want to try and mix up my footwear more.
Right now I’m obsessed with these “Merge” booties* from Matisse. The style is super versatile so they go with everything! They’re also very comfortable, which is even more important. The 1.5″ heel makes them easy to walk in. These booties are crafted from oiled suede and leather for a slightly worn in look, which I love. I think these look perfect with jeans as I’ve styled them here, but they look just ass cute with dresses!
I tend to choose plain pieces. I like that they’re easy to create outfits with, but they can look a bit ordinary at times. My goal for 2018 is to accessorize more. I think this will make my outfits look a bit more stylish and it will give me a great excuse to wear the jewelry in my collection that doesn’t leave the house very often.
Find my Personal Style
My last resolution is to find my personal style. I feel like I haven’t quite found it yet and it’s something that I would really like to discover this year. I find I’m all over the map when it comes to the pieces in my wardrobe and I’d ultimately like to be able to streamline it so that everything goes together.
